When calling or receiving a call, we see this +1 + 44 + 91, what is it, and why? These are the actual country codes which are different for every country. To call America, you have to first dial +1 and then dial the phone number, only then you will be able to call the person you are calling. If you want to call France, you have to first dial +33 and then the number. The main question is how America got +1 and UK +44, and why India got +91. The thing is that in the 1950s when this telecommunication was growing, North America had a big hand in spreading this technology everywhere. And it first made international direct calling possible. The initial invention of the telephone was linked to America and Canada. It came to this area for the first time. And so if you look at the complete list of country codes, Canada has a dialing code of +1 above and then USA +1. And after that in Europe, it is +30 +31 +33. And scrolling down you can see here that +91 is for India. +92 is for Pakistan. +94 is for Sri Lanka. At present, all these country codes are controlled by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). It is a global-level agency in which all countries are included. And at present, it manages everything. And all the countries have agreed on the union. They have signed treaties. That every country has a different code. And at present, whatever country code has been agreed upon, it is running like this. And with the support of all the countries, this entire number system has become possible.
