Hectare
Hectare (ha) is a metric unit of units used for land (especially for agriculture and forestry). Ten thousand square meters of 1 hectare is equal to 0.01 square kilometers. Although not part of the International System of Units (SI), the hectare is one of the accepted units of the metric system as it is practical to represent large areas.

Another metric unit of area is the square kilometer abbreviated as km² and is preferred for larger pieces of land. It is equal to 1000,000 sq. meters or 100 hectares. The square kilometer is an SI metric prefix and is therefore used extensively in geography and the measurement of land.
